So i have a 2006 4.0 tacoma 4x4, non trd, and I would really prefer to have a stock e-locker than a aftermarket air locker. So my thoughts have been either finding an e-locker off a wrecked tacoma and putting it on my axle and just custom fabricating it in, Or buying a whole axle from a wrecked trd tacoma and just using that axle instead. But my problem is is i don't know if i do that will it ruin my 4WD because i think the gearing is different on the non trd tacomas and the trds... i know my axle housing in the rear is bigger but i dont know if the actual gearing is or not.
    Suggestions?

If you are trying to find out your gearing, and there is no tag on it stating what it is, lift the back end of your truck up. mark the wheel and driveshaft with a paint pen

Spin your wheel one turn while watching how many times the driveshaft turns. if it is less than 4, youre most likely 3.73 like ... most 2nd gen's i believe.

Someone chime in if im wrong!

    edit:
And I believe the trd e-locker is an 8" diff, and the non e locker is an 8.4" ... so the stock e locker won't fit, ... I think.

Swap the whole axle. The elocker will not fit into your non locker housing.

Still easier to just buy an ARB.
