I'm on my second starter, they don't like water much.

IMO, first place to look is the battery. Pull both connections and clean them and the posts. Everything else will work if they are dirty but the starter pulls too much juice to start it.

Well, 98Tacoma was right! My battery had a dead cell (or dead enough not to power the starter), and my Boostpak wasn't working either.

So, the whole "did-I-fry-my-ignition-system-by-washing-and-painting-the-frame" concern was a total red herring.

Thanks everyone for the help. Sometimes it takes a stranger to point out that the answer is hidden in plain sight and pretty simple at that.

Congrats VT. Glad it was a simple fix. My next concern would be "Whats the age of the battery?" Was it "it's time" to go?

The battery was only 18 months old, but I think it was it's time to go. Here's why:

    1. It was a POS Delphi battery that I got for free from a buddy who works at a Chevy dealership. It had the same CCAs (550) as OEM, but still...it's a piece of crap.

    2. I run a plow during the winter that places a pretty heavy load on the electrical system. Gotta believe that kills a battery.

Now I'm running an Interstate battery with 750 cold cranking amps. I think it's a worthwhile upgrade. Hopefully I'm right.
