I see that all the time in the high desert. If oncoming is clear, the locals will pull off onto the left shoulder and make their turn from there.

I use it when someone's around me, like if I'm changing lanes and there's no cars close then I'm just getting over but if someone's maybe a car length or two away I'll signal just so they're aware.

It’s said signaling should be a habit, shit washing your hands after using the restroom should be a habit I can't tell you the amount of guys I see who don't. And BTY running your hands under water real quick doesn't count, you have to actually use soap people.

See ... this is what I said before. I always use my turns signals ... no matter where I am or if there are other cars on the road or not!! Because if I don't my hands feel dirty and I have to find a restroom that has hand soap. :D :p

Edit: I don't know why the Quote didn't show the author I was quoting.

I do a lot of 2 lane highway driving. I've never seen this but it seems dangerous because I've always been of the thought that if you're driving faster than the person in front of you it's the courteous thing to pass them. I've seen people, not in a hurry, pull to the shoulder to let people around but not using the oncoming traffic lane as a deceleration lane.

    All the time.

Additionally, I go by the Activepoodle Turn Signal Rule, when doing a lane change:

    - put your turn signal on
    - count "one, two, three" (or similar in your native language!), slowly
    - THEN initiate the lane move

Too many people take off, and then signal... which is useless as too late.

I like the peace of mind that my planned move has been, or should have been noted.

I like the knowledge that I signaled WAY ahead of time THEN changed lanes...just in case they'd like to put the blame on me.
