Just picked up a 2014 TRD Sport. Noticed a knocking sound from the motor when I start it in the mornings, current temps in upper 20's. The noise goes away when it starts to warm up and the temp gauge starts to move, usually around 5 minutes. Took it back to the dealer, service dept said it's "piston slap" and it's normal. I had the salesman start a couple of other Tacoma's sitting on the lot. Both made the same noise. Seems odd to me. Anyone have any experience with this?

    Welcome to TW.

Learn to use the search function.

These trucks have been out with the same exact engines for almost a decade and just about every question has been asked to death already. There are probably 200 threads on this exact topic that cover it in depth.

Oh and yes, it's typically normal.

So in other words don't ask any questions. Theyve all been asked. Mods should lock all threads and block any new threads. Everyone can just user the search feature.

Couldn't expect anything else from a Flyers fan I guess. :)

If people searched instead of starting a new thread every single time they had a question - it would help people who actually do search find things.

Nothing like searching for "Tacoma engine tick" and finding 94 threads you need to search through and 99% of them are full of crap. Or searching "Tacoma engine knock" and finding 122 threads......

Get off your high horse already. Less questions = easier to find answers.

    Stupid newfi

So giving him directions on what he should be doing and giving him an answer to his question is being a dick?

What a bunch of little girls you guys are. Maybe you should go to the barbie forum and hang out.

It's stupid NewfiE. Next time you call someone stupid make sure you get your spelling correct. Otherwise the lack of intelligence may appear to originate from the accuser.
