Hey guys/gals, i'm new to TW and appreciate your patience.
I know there are other threads surrounding this topic, however the latest posts are over 5y old for the threads i've found and none answer some additional questions i have.

My driver side manifold/converter is cracked, leaking exhaust, and throwing a P0430 engine code.

I've researched a bit and i'm leaning towards replacement Doug Thorley or JBA shorty headers. These headers come with a flanged inlet for mounting to the engine, and a pipe outlet for welding to the converter. So the plan would be to cut the converters off the existing headers, and fit/tack/weld to the new shorty headers.

If my driver side manifold cat is damaged, and unusable for this new configuration, what is my best course of action?

Ideally i would like to find a suitable catalytic converter with a weldable pipe inlet to connect to the headers, and a flanged outlet to connect to the exhaust system (more specifically the Y-Pipe?). Does this exist? If not, what options are better than buying a replacement "direct fit" manifold cat and cutting it in half just for the cat, cuz that seems ridic.

No matter which header you pick make sure to pay up and get the stainless headers.

Since you are in a area with rust and winter weather it is a must.

All the ceramic coating will not last on any header in a wet or winter environment.

Junk yard for the cat is the likely best bet if your current one is not up to spec.

    Best of luck.
