I have a 2013 Magnetic Gray Tacoma, and my wife has a 2012 Barcelona Red 4Runner. They are garaged. We are meticulous with maintaining a clean vehicle. We have noticed numerous scuffs and marks on both vehicles, much more than our previous vehicles (an Explorer and a Wrangler). Has anyone else noticed this?

By scuff do you mean like after you wash it or like wax it?

my mgm clearcoat is fickle - it's got light scratches and I wash/wax my truck on the regular. the paint does not seem to stand up to road pebbles and such. there's a thread on hear about this that confirms your suspicion about the paint. I don't see why other manufacturers would have different results though. All paint is lead free these days.

the clearcoat is easily marked. If I go through a car wash the brushes seem to always mark my clearcoat.

That goes with "any" clear coat. Never use one of those car washes if you want your paint to look good with no scratches.

As far as paint goes. Not a scratch or swirl mark in mine. Yes I know it's white but I hate swirl marks. Being OCD they are my pet peeve.

white paint is so much better for OCD. my last two vehicles were white and my MGM is high maintenance comparatively.

No doubt. I love MGM but yeah... it is harder to keep clean.

But... She doesn't have one scratch or swirl mark in her.

Scuffs from door edges usually go away with a little scratch remover/polish.

For the first nine months of my Tacoma's life, I described its paint as "Pretty blue cake frosting", because that's about how durable it was. It seemed to harden up after that point and does not chip nearly as easily now.

The scuffs/marks are obvious following my hand washing them. The 4Runner has a lot of lower panel rash from road debris. But the marks are probably blemishes in the clear coat as mentioned earlier.

Crappiest paint I've ever had. Love the color though.

It is more expensive too...you can thank the EPA for that and Global Warming advocates.
