I am looking into the fox 2.5 remote reservoir shocks. Im seeing 8", 12", 16" travel. The 8" is plenty, it has more travel than my ucas and lcas do. But what would the perks of having more be? Is it just extra I dont need? Thanks!

shocks for the rear? or coil over for the front?

cause 8'', 10'', 12'' coil overs are for long travel trucks only.

8'' shocks out back are fine for stockish travel. 12'' is a lot and you'll need a custom crossmeber and mounts. 16''s are again long travel teritory where you'd be using a custom bed cage.

It would be front coilovers. I have long travel ucas and lcas. If they only extend a certain distance is there a point in getting shocks that extend longer than them or will it just be wasted shock?

Well you can only run a 8'' coilover anyways with the stock coil buckets.

For 10'' you need custom hoops made and engine cage really..

if your 4wd you won't gain really much of anything out of running a coil over longer then 8'' since your CVs are your limiting factor there. That is assuming you have a standard +3.5'' kit.

If you have a custom kit that is like +4'' or wider with custom CV axles then you could use a 10'' coil over.

If your not 4wd then the ball joints are your limits really and you'll want to strap it just before they bind. Which ain't much longer anyways..

Bascially..unless your kit is custom as hell..just stick with an 2.5x8. Gusset the buckets and cam tabs and maybe add a secondary hoop for secondary triples and enjoy it.

16's are for the rear setup.

    Long Travel stuff..

camtab gussets are so you don't rip off the LCA and don't loose your alignment in the first whoop.

Secondary hoop is a hoop that goes from the frame to the the coil bucket to mount a secondary bypass shock.
