The transponder systems can be bypassed a number of ways like software hacking, computer swap, dirty locksmith or car dealer. What incentive is there for a manufacturer to make a working immobilizer that can't be bypassed. They get a new vehicle sale out of almost every vehicle theft.

I went with Ravelco for that among many other reasons. A $200 12-volt jammer available on the web kills trackers completely and I don't want the bones after a thief adulterates my truck, anyway. Alarms are useless for anything but making noise for a few seconds until the thief cuts the wires. Not many of these have a lifetime warranty, an almost 40 year proven track record and free on site installation. Only a tow truck can get my Tacoma now and less than 10% of vehicle thefts involve towing but are driven away. Haven't found any way to bolt my truck to the planet, yet. Sorry to hear the truck was found destroyed. Regards.
