Resonators / Performance Catalytic converter

How many do we have on a 2008 V6 Tacoma? If we future them out or just remove them, will it improve performance or mileage? Even thinking of getting a high flow/performance catalytic converter. What are your thoughts? Thanks in advance.

 

Removing them will most likely put your engine into a 'default' or 'limp' mode and you will burn more fuel. The computer will think your A/F ratio is wrong. If your state has a vehicle inspection it will fail. If your state has an emissions test it will really fail.

 

Look if you want more performance get a supercharger! Gutting your cats and replacing them will only cause more issues than performance gains.

And you're in Cali so you're going to have problems when smog comes around again

 

This was one of my favorite topics when I went to UTI. You might get 1hp. Better off to just leave them alone and let your vehicle work the way it was designed to.
