im wondering if anyone here has built their own front bumper and how much it cost. im figuring that it would be a hell of a lot cheaper to build one if a guy could get a hold of a design he likes. any input would be helpful if you got any

Many have built their own custom bumpers. They will chime in 3...2...1...

I made my back bumper for free...I looked into what it would cost in materials and time put into it for the front, decided to pick up a second hand plate bumper for the front. It was relatively cheap and I can always modify it to my needs. Just some food for thought.

Custom front bumper and rock sliders, glasspack muffler, shorten exhuast, abs killswitch, roof light bar, rear e locker.
Of course it's worth it, every bit of it. Your own bumper made with your sweat and blood. Who cares if it looks like crap, you made it with your own hands. It's actually not very expensive, I spent only about 100 dollars to make my front and rear, plus sliders.

I made one out of a piece of I beam for dirt cheap on my old Ranger (got from scrap yard) Did a little trimming with a cut quick and a cutting torch. Was definatly overkill in the weight department lol but man did it work good! Im trying to dig up pix

Here is my rear one I made out of a piece of 4" pipe and scraps I had laying around. It's actually pretty stout and I did a thread on it.null_zps737600e5_d3a08184920da03889d559eb512d4aa910975031.jpg

Not literally a 100 dollars but estimate, wasn't no more than 160. That was for a total of 8 sticks of tubing, each 20 ft long.
