Don't know if you guys have Costco in your area but if your a member they have a really good car / truck buying program. You basically are emailed a price within hours, it is very competitive.

we have a costco that was built about 8 months ago in Knoxville but when I checked with the program apparently they haven't negotiated with any local toyota dealers on truck prices.

at the end of the day they dealer is only $240 above invoice but I'm getting a little pissed that they aren't working with me. I came up over $700 in my offer and they've only dropped $200. I asked for them to add in the OEM bedmat and they declined. At that point, I requested a refund and the dealer refunded my deposit without any questions.

It's unfortunate that I'm backing out over something as small as the bed mat but it's the principal of the thing.

I used TrueCar for mine, and then went to 2 other dealers to find that they didn't want to beat or even match the price, I paid cash (don't know if that makes a difference) and got it for 2500 under MSRP.

They will call you back and either lower the price or give you the bed mat. Just be patient.

Just be patient...when I bought my 2013 dcsb trd sport in sept 2012 it was the only 2013 on their lot. they wanted $33,500 with 4% interest rate...after walking out of the dealership 3 times and asking for a new salesperson 2x I got my truck with KARR alarm, extended warranty and 2% interest rate for $29,500...

Thanks for the advice everyone. First car purchase so I'm a little anxious, but I'm glad I'm doing this via email rather than being in the sales office.

Sounds like we're basically at the online, virtual point where I storm out of the office and wait for them to call me back lol.

I have bought and "ordered" a couple of Toyotas and the way it was explained to me is they don't "build" yours, they wait till they see one that is scheduled to built that meets your configuration and the dealer claims that one.

I had to wait 3 1/2 months for my RAV4 because they hadn't started the V6s yet.

yeah that's pretty much the way is was explained to me too.

they typically go on their system and modify their "allocated" vehicles to match the "order". At the end of the day it's minimal work for the dealer and a guaranteed sale with no costs for them.

I'm shopping now too and wonder if there's a good website that will give MSRP, invoice, factory to dealer incentives, etc. without passing your information along to dealers. I simply want to educate myself about what a good or great deal would be before I speak to the dealers.

I did request quotes from 5 dealers, both locally and in larger cities within two hours of me. I'm happy to make the drive to save a few thousand dollars if the larger city dealers can offer bigger discounts. I've priced it out online and for what I want, I'm probably looking at $34,000+ MSRP and I see on one of the other threads where folks have purchased similarly priced Tacomas for under 30 grand and I'm curious if that's reasonable.

My 14 RC 4x4 was stickered at 24,200 and I got them down to 22,400. I thought I did alright considering the guys buying 30k models were having a hard time getting 1500 off.

Got my 14 4x4 DCSBsport, etune, tow, sounds similar but DC out the door for $30,700. then paid tax in my state as I bought it in another. The dealer did not move an inch on his internet pricing which i found to be some of the best. I put the link in here for the dealers inventory their " absolute" pricing is listed in the inventory - The only thing I got eatra was the lifetime powertrain warranty free, and a bottle of touch up paint I requested.

    31k for an access cab...

If that that's the all in, out the door price...not a horrible deal. Though you could probably get a double cab for that...

31,056 is the invoice price without taxes for this config...9.25% tax in my area.

Can't imagine a dealer is going to get $3,000 in holdbacks to cover the kind of pricing you're implying.
