    I found this 2007Tacoma prerunner.

It has around 87,000 miles on it with the sr5 package and aftermarket wheels and tires. They are asking 17,250 for it which is a little under blue book value.

I am looking for advice on whether or not this seems like a decent first tacoma to climb in to. I haven't been to look at the truck in person as it's a little over an hour away. I plan to check the frame for rust as I know tacomas are kind of notorious for it. The vehicle does have a clean carfax report.

Thanks in advance for any help you guys can offer.

I would say as long as it's 100% of what you are looking for and within budget go for it. Make sure you have it checked out if your not mechanically inclined.

If you can I would check out private party sales. You usually get more for your money. I just recently purchased my first Tacoma. I wasn't in a hurry. And kept watching the used cars at dealerships as well as Craigslist. I had a budget of 15,000. Ended picking mine up for 13,500.

    Just my two cents.

Seems expensive to me but I could be wrong. I looked at a 2009 Prerunner DCSB last summer that was listed at 18500 with 45k on it. Granted I live in the North where 2WD pickups are pretty useless/no one wants them but still.

If you think you might want to go off-road, hold out for a 4x4.

It seems like all of the tacomas I have looked at are pretty expensive here in north texas and carry about the same miles in that price range.

I've had my eye on Craig's list as well as autotrader. I was going to go through the dealership so I could try work in an extended warranty.

That is a lot- I got my 2007 with 4x4 and 15000 less miles TWO years ago for less than that. Mine is the 4 cyl but that's what I wanted and was even harder to find.

I think thats too much for a five year old truck that's gonna have 100k on it in your first year.

Seems to high and I live in Canada where prices are high to begin with.

I paid 28,000 for my 2008 full load trd sport 4x4 V6 with leather with 50,000miles in 2010.

I'll probably end paying the truck off. It really sucks because anything I find under 17,000 is a salvage title or has 150,000 miles on it. It's been really tough finding one in the mid range bracket. Maybe there just aren't a lot of tacomas for sale in north texas.
