    Where are the freeze plugs?

Like a idiot I kept adding water to my Tacoma which had a leaking water pump.

Did not even think of it freezing.

Well it did and water is poring out from the passenger side above the oil filter.

Hopefully someone will tell me the freeze plug is right there!!

    Any help would be appreciated..

Freeze plugs are in the side of the engine block. If you pop one of those out they are not reusable and you will lose all of your coolant. It would be a thousand times easier to drain the excess out of the drain cock on the bottom of your radiator.

My question is where is the freeze plug?

I know how to drain my radiator, my freeze plug got pushed out and I'm trying to repair it.

Oh, sorry. I know they're on the same side of the block as the oil filter but I don't know how hard they are to reach.

Here's a pic of a 2rz longblock. It's the very similar block design as the 2TR. That'll let you see the location. You'll need to be prepared to pull the exhaust manifold. Once you've got the manifold off you "should" have enough room to beat a new one in with a hammer. You may need a 2lb sledge because you won't be able to get much back stroke. They don't go in real easy with the engine in the truck.

Find a socket that fit in the plug pretty good. Once you have to do this you shouldn't have anymore problem remembering to add or change anti freeze.
