Why do I feel the need to pop the hood and let that hot engine cool off faster in those 90 + degrees summer days, especially when I get home in the afternoon? Would such obsession extend the life of those hoses and/or electrical wires/chips ?

Just out of interest, in what area do you live?

I've never done it, it's hot here but, not too hot IMO. Been to much hotter places and don't see it many doing it...

I don't know why people are worried about small, no offence, dumb things like this. Vehicles are not sent off the line and cannot handle higher temperatures. The vehicles, especially this taco, which is run at redline for 10 strait hours during testing, can take a high temperature for quite a while. I would only be worried if your temp gauge was getting high. The parts themselves; hoses, wires, pumps etc, are designed for life in the heat. It gets pretty damn hot under there normally. Hot enough to melt snow on the hood in -30 celcius after a while. I wouldn't be worrying about temperate unless your cooling systems are damaged or failed.
