OK, 2014 DCLB TRD Sport, tow, Entune audio plus, black tube steps and Weathertech all weather floor mats. I want the bed mat too but I don't think they figured that in the price (it's only $100 more and I'll force them to throw it in before I sign anything).

He's given me a price of 32,454 for the truck with my packages and options. I'm not sure where MSRP is (I'll check but I'm guessing it's over $34,000) but he is giving me what I think is a pretty nice trade allowance on my 2006 4-Runner SR5. The wholesale on the 4-Runner is $10,500 and he's giving me $11K off of the discounted price on the truck, so $21,500 difference.

I don't think it was a great deal on the front end but considering that he's giving me a bit more than wholesale on my trade, I think I'm pretty happy with it overall. Thoughts?

And by the way, I think I'm going to go with spruce mica (he says he already found one with my configuration) and I'll likely add a Leer model 180 cap.

    Things I need to tow.
Just be aware that Truecar requires a phone number when you create your "free" account and you'll get calls from every dealer within 50 miles for weeks after you sign up. Also, the dealers have to be paying Truecar for the referrals and I'm suspicious of the accuracy since it's certainly advantageous for Truecar to have dealers supporting them close the sales.

I actually went through the process with truecar until I got to the point where they wanted my personal info. I also have the same feeling that you do that truecar and many of these other services are actually in "cahoots" with their participating dealers.

I went to the Toyota website and priced out the car and I actually think the MSRP is closer to $33,000, versus the $34,000+ that I had originally suspected so the deal is suddenly less exciting. Based on what they offered for my trade, I think it's still a good, but maybe not a great deal.

    Just another idea:

If you know someone who has a USAA account, have them call the same dealer and price out the exact same truck and ask for the USAA price. Every dealer in the country has a discounted price on new vehicles for USAA members. It might give you a better idea as to where the bottom dollar stands.

I did try to check through Costco and they told me that there were no participating dealers in my area but I don't know how far away they'll check for a dealer who will meet their price. Thanks for the info.

That's odd. I've never heard of a dealer that does not participate.

I have no clue. The message I got said something about no dealers in my area that would meet Costco's stringent price controls or something like that. I'm in a rural area but I do have one dealer only 35 or 40 miles away.

I got my 2014 TRD sport DCSB with similar options (no running boards though) for 32000 out the door with the 6 year warranty. My before tax tags and title price was 28,750. Good luck!

Jeez I wish I had known about this.

The sticker on mine was $32,660, paid $30,254.

Whenever I deal online with truecar or any other price negotiating site or dealer I never give my actual phone number. I prefer to have a little fun a use a local dealership number I have no love for.
It's also useful to use a disposable email while negotiating .

doesn't sound like the same truck the op is looking at, your information is misleading. You truck doesn't have entune jbl, its a short bed and sounds like it might even be a prerunner..

I'm currently annoyed with TrueCar as it does not list White as an exterior paint option when I try to price one out. It was working fine last week, but now white has disappeared!
