Spare key mod. to fit in the wallet.

I wanted spare key, just in case if I lock myself out. I was considering magnet or hiding somewhere under the truck but for now I did a wallet key.

Made a copy of a key for $1.5 at home depot
Cut using cut off saw, but you can use hacksaw.
Plastic covering just came off after i cut off metal.
Filed down rough edges.
I made it 2" long. So all blade and small part of the bow to make it easy to turn a key.

Fits in the wallet inside side pocket perfectly, I forget sometimes that I have it until I'm cleaning out receipts.

Down side is if I lose my wallet and if it gets to wrong hands, they know my address and have key to my truck.

Question: is it possible to shave off key to make it open door only and not to start the truck?

 

its a chipped key, so it shouldnt start your truck in that state. Have you tired to start it with that key?

 

I have basic tacoma, i did not install alarm yet. So it does start it now. But you right, after I install alarm it probably will not start.
