That is a 95 service manual. And the RON next to the 91 stands for Research Octane Level, or 87 octane rating. Here is picture of alldatapro's service manual for the 1999 fuel rating

Not saying I can't use 91, but there's no benefit in my engine. Now I'm pretty sure in '05 they were rated for 91 octane. But I swore they changed that in like '08 or somewhere around there. Cause let's be honest, if I'm gonna pay 4 bucks a gallon, I'm driving a diesel truck anyway haha

It looks like alldatapro is not giving me a fuel spec for the 2008. I looked in the same spot I got mine and nothing. Looked around in other parts and nothing. Even changed the searched truck and kept it with the 4.0 v6 and couldn't find it. Must be a big toyota secret haha

I do concede to username though. Turns out through a google search there are lot of threads on here about more dyno proven hp and torque out of the 4.0 with 91/93 then 87. Seems like a lot of people do just run the 87 unless they plan on towing or being under a lot of load. Just depends on if the extra few miles outweighs the .50 cents or more a gallon I guess

4.0 is designed for 91, but the ECU will detune to allow for 87 (or 85 at altitude).
If the OP has a 4.0, that is possibly what his app was reporting.
2.7 was designed for 87 and will not benefit from 91.

OP, you can run on 87, from what I've read the computer will Detune itself a little bit. You will just have a little less power and mpg. You just have to do the math and figure out if the little more power and mpg outweighs the costlier fuel, or would it be more cost efficient to use 87.
