Ok, I've installed a new head unit and new door speakers and new rear speakers. I used the wiring harness specifically for Toyota Tacoma.

Everything sounds great, I just want to turn it up a notch.

Now, if I want to install a new amp, I have a question about the remote start wire and the speaker wires. On the remote start wire, can I run it from the amp and tie it together with the harness remote start wire and if so, do I tape up the remote start wire from the head unit?

Also, on the speaker wires, can I run the speaker wires from the amp to the speaker wires on the harness and just tape up the speaker wires on the harness coming from the head unit?

    Thanks,

    Chuck

you can do that with the speaker wire.but for the best result i would consider running new wires all the way to the doors.as for the remote its better to get it directly from the head unit .

I'm a little confused on what you're wanting to do with the remote wire for the amp. It sounds like you want to connect the remote wire to a wire that isn't connected to anything else. Doing this would prevent your amp from ever turning on. Remote wires are supposed to go from the head unit to the amp. You should connect the remote wire from the amp to the blue wire coming from your head unit. That way, the amp only turns on when your head unit is on.

    As for the speaker wires...
Like the guy above said, it would be better to run speaker wire from the amp directly to the speakers. However, you can connect the speaker wire from the amp to the harness behind the head unit. You can really run the speaker wires however you want. You could circle your truck in speaker wire, then route it out the back window to the bed, and then back in through one of the doors if you really wanted to. As long as the signal from your amp gets to the speakers. If you run speaker wire from the amp directly to the speakers, you can take advantage of using better quality speaker wire and get a better sounding system. The stock speaker wire isn't very good. It'll do the job, but it could be better.

Haha, probably. Its just the first picture I found that looked easy enough for a rookie to understand.
