Lights blinking on factory stereo

Ok I have a question I can't seem to figure out. When I start my truck the daytime running light are on. When the light knob is in the off position my stereo lights throughout the whole stereo continually blink. When I turn my light knob one click forward the running lights are still on along with rear running lights but the lights on stereo are constantly illuminated. Any ideas if this is normal and why would the stereo lights blink continuously with the switch in off position
