more revs?

does anyone know how to get more out of a 2.7 by getting it to rev more than just 5500 rpms? i mean it is a 4 cyl and i figured it could go a little more past that to somethin like 6500 or 7000. btw, i just ordered my LCE header the other day, def. excited about that

 

Along with your exhaust...I would think cams would be in order to get the revs up....

 

you need a standalone to get past the toyota rev limiter on a 98, your motor can physically handle around 6-6.5 on the stock springs but if you want between 6 and 7 id go with stiffer springs, a stand alone (no piggybacks are out there to move or change the rev limitor) and a cam because unless you have a turbo you wont make much power above 5k. id recommend a simple 3-4 psi turbo setup youl spend around $2000 on cams, stand alone, and springs (guess) and get 10-20 hp or you could do a simple non intercooled turbo setup for around 1500 or even less with no fuel upgrades long as you stay around 4-6 psi and get around 40-50 hp in the pants

 

alright, i can find all the mechanical equipment, but where do i find a standalone for my tacoma? thats the biggest thing

 

are you goin with a high rpm decision? if so id recomend lcengineering.com for the parts they have everything! lol not sure on what standalones are best for our trucks... GOOGLE lol

 

ohhh yea i knew that lol thats where i purchased my header from . actually i was thinkin maybe for right now a max of 6 grand or 6200, ya know, somethin like that. my friend knows a few guys who own a shop that can remap my ECU and hopefully give me the best performance for my CAI and header ill have on there.

 

cant tune the 97+ tacomas sadly :/ trust me theres no way to raise the rpms without a standalone. and i just asked around a here that these are the best for our truck: AEM, or SDS- not Haltech, not Mega Squirt, not E-manage hope this helps man.
