That's why I got the 4 banger. Last fill up averaged 24.3 MPG. Mostly highway driving back and forth to work. I think that is awesome for a 4WD truck with 8500 miles on it.

If you want 400 miles on a tank you cant do 70+ with the V6.

Check tire psi, when i test rode, mine was at 26 psi ,(false comfy ride from dealer), salesman was ok when i aired up to 32 psi though. Lots of possible lil robbers nibbling at mpg.

I have a 2009 4x4 DC TRD, 711 miles on it and I got 18 MPG on the last tank City driving to and from work (19 miles) with some freeway action. I drive 5 over, and get there fast enough to stay in front of the other goof-balls.

My 07 v6 DC Prerunner got 20-21 in the city with 32k miles on it before I traded it in. I got about 14 when towing 4000lb @ 70-75mpg. I am in Texas though, it's pretty flat. I did break 400 miles on tank of gas with in city driving.

I yanked the charcoal filter out of my airbox the day I bought the 09, and switched to the Pro Dry S filter Before leaving the dealership.. Don't know if it makes a big difference. I check the mileage every time I fill up.

I do know the truck/transmission will memorize the way you drive, if you have a lead foot.. It's not going to get good mileage.

Don't feel bad I have to take Roosevelt Blvd to work everyday and only get about 225 miles per tank.

    A few.
I've gotten 22mpg and in the 370's when low fuel light comes on with every tank since new so far, currently at 3500 miles on odometer.

    Still brand new.
Just to follow up, I filled 17.5 gallons exactly. You were right.

That equates to about 18 MPG but I have to take this with a grain of salt because I do have a lead foot at times and I was driving up hill most of the trip (Philly to Upstate NY).

    I guess I really can't be too surprised, I did buy a 6-cylinder, double cab truck.

Good ol' Roosevelt Blvd.. I'd be happy to get 10 MPG driving that everyday (which I do with the company car).

Just dodging mindless people J-walking along with the new construction makes me reconsider taking a truck on there.

If the truck is new, it will take some time to break in. When I first got the truck I was getting right around 20, now I'm up to 21-23 and that's after 6000 miles. Mileage should trend up as you build up miles (within reason).

At 5k miles I also changed all of the drivtrain fluids (other than ATF) to Mobil 1 75w-90 LS and changed the engine oil out to Mobil 1 0w-30 advanced fuel economy.

I have a Scan Gauge II and see about 18.5 mpg with a mix of city/highway driving, and I am a lead foot. If I take it easy, I can see 20 mpg with a mix of city/highway driving. On the highway if I drive the speed limit, which is very difficult for me to do I can see 22 to 23 mpg. I have found that riding behind a semi trailer doing about 65 can get you 24 mpg, that was something to keep me awake on a recent trip, but once I broke out and started going 80 mph again, I was back down to 20 mpg. Basically if I averaged it all out I probably get about 19 mpg.
