Trying to reinstall valve lifters DRIVING ME CRAZY

    2002 PreRunner 2.7
    Had to replace the head on my 2.7. While reinstalling the intake cam one of the bolts broke, used extractor to remove it with no problems. Took two of the lifters out to clean out some and now after I put one lifter back in it doesnt move? and the other one wont go in? I tried for hours trying to turn and reorient it but it just wont go in. Never dropped anything and everything looks in good shape. WHAT IS GOING ON?
