Softest Coil overs ? (I searched)

Before I get started let me say that I have searched. Many posts were pretty old and I thought there might be some new info available. Here is my siituation:
I have a 2006 Pre-runner that I intended to lease for 3 years new and return to dealer (that's why I chose pre-runner and planned on 4x4 later) Now after having 2 kids and buying the truck and not having a payment I have decided that it looks like it will be my forever truck since I only have 50k miles on it and its paid for (and those little people are expensive).
I have had the toytec coilovers on it for 6 years and used to think they rode "okay" but lately have decided that they ride worse than "okay" and I'd like to look into other options. I have the wheelers 3 leaf aal pack and OME shocks out back. The springs are flat as a board at this point and I even have 1" block to level things out. I have terra grapplers 295/75/16. SO...

No winch and no plans for a bumper/winch at this point. I dont get off road much and would sacrifice and off road performance for a smooth more comfortable on road experience. I have the toytecs pretty close to maxed out at 2.75" and I know that spinning them down some will take some preload off the springs and soften things up but them the 295's wont work and I like the ride height where it is. I also still have the trac bar, should I remove?

I'd like a more soft, bouncy, "stock like" suspension but would like to maintain my 3" lift, wheels tires etc. I plan for the OME spring kit maybe with the

$82 d29xl leaf spring

d29xl aal if the height is not right. (I ran across the pole thread between OME and all pro with a 50% split) I currently have OME shocks out back but would be opened to other ideas there too. I do haul some relatively heavy stuff from time to time as I have a small fabrication and classic restoration outfit that requires parts and material runs occasionally.

I understand that toytec and some others have a digressive spring rate that excels at higher speeds but the low speed stuff is what's kicking my ass. Speed bumps literally trigger the ABS because the tires come off the ground while it jars the truck and anyone in it.

I don't think anybody's responded, because you've stated pretty much everything they would recommend. Maybe just go for the full OME kit with the softer spring option..? I'd love to tell you more, but I just don't know enough..

6 years on those? i don’t know much about them but they maybe worn out? just a though. also i think something like fox,king may give a better ride. but not sure. maybe look at piggyback shocks from king/fox or icon? would be able to keep the lift and everything. Also you said leaf spring are flat. may want to get new ones as well. that may help depending on which ones you get.


also if by trac bar you mean sway bar. i’d keep it unless you off road a bunch and you said you don’t. it dose allow each front will to move more indapendently of the other one. but you will get a lot more body roll, so if you don’t off road a lot i’d keep it so the truck handles a little better.

 

Okay. maybe I'll look into the 885 and OME and research more on the King/fox, Icon options although they seem to all be geared almost exclusively for off road and the on road manners are something you just deal with since the off road is good.

I do plan on OME springs and new shocks in the rear as I think they are worn out.

edit: looks like the 885 and OME shock to match from wheelers only gives me 1.75" of lift. If i wanted to do that I could just back off od my toytecs for a better ride and for free!! BUT i would not have the 3" i want and would have trouble with the 295/75/16 i have under there.

 

Icons are valved digressively which make them a better ride on the road compared to king/fox.

 

Icon's have also never really been a competitor in the Baja racing series like Fox and King (not saying that we are but still) have so that tells you something about the way they build their stuff.

If quality and rigidity is a concern of course.

 

You'll get more than 1.75" from 885s and the nitrochargers if you don't have any extra weight. You should get more like 2.25"-2.5" of lift. I added 1/4" top plate spacers to get right around 3" of lift. Not sure why they understate their lift so much on those.
