tailgate lock for 1st generation Taco (2003)

    Is there any good way to secure your tailgate? I've read a couple of threads but most apply to 2nd gen. Tacos. Not much to find for 1st gen. trucks. :confused:
    Considering a tailgate lock I checked reviews on those sold by PopNLock. Some claim, however, these are not sturdy enough to secure the tailgate. They may keep the curious out but with too many plastic parts they may be not the best option. :(
