I paid retail for my truck, it was low mileage and very clean untouched. I have put roughly $5k in it since I have owned it May 2013 with much more to come. My question is that if it gets totaled, will I get the money for the upgrades? Should I insure it for more? Do we have some insurance agents present?

Depends on the company but most companies cap custom parts at a specific amount. The company I work for has a cap of 1000.00 for all custom add ons or replacement parts. Speak with your agent or customer service and go over the policy exclusions with him. I am an adjuster with an insurance company and have denied coverage for more expensive a/m items where people have put a lot of a/m parts and rims on their vehicles only to find out at claim time that their is a cap on these items. Unfortunately a lot of agents do not ask or review this type of coverage as they are always trying to give people the cheapest rate and not what coverage is best for their clients situation. Buy the extra coverage it's not that much and save all receipts. Good luck.
