Hey guys, I have been having some what i think is a thermostat issue. I think its staying stuck open. It takes a little longer to heat up, and when I pull up to stop lights ( especially when its extremely cold out) my motor temp will die down, and I feel it in the heat. So changed my thermostat today, lost some fluid out of the radiator but it didn't show in the reservoir. So I test drove it, and everything seemed fine but my heat isn't how it should be. I let the truck cool down for a bit and came back out and I was low on coolant. So i filled it back up and drove it home. But i am still having the same issue of pulling up to a stoplight or just parking and letting the truck run at idle and not feeling the heat as well as when I'm driving. Can I get some help on this?

sounds like maybe there is some air in the system. let it cool off park it on an uphill slant remove rad cap, start it and let it burp itself out. hopefully that will work for you. what brand thermostat did you get?

Question. How cold is extremely cold and what temp thermostat did you put in the truck?

When the truck is cold, take off radiator cap, if you don't see coolant, add some until you do. Start truck, turn heater on full blast. Once truck is up to temp, check radiator to see if coolant is seen. If not, add some more. Get in truck or have helper bump up the idle by pressing accelerator pedal.

This will burp out your air in the system. Top off radiator. Put cap back on. Top off reservoir. Done.

If by type you mean what degree they are 180 degree. Or of you mean how they work they work off a spring that contracts and expands depending on coolant temperature.
