2008 6cyl.6speed. Fuel Pump went bad.

Is this common?.... The truck has 80,000, not driven hard, never runs out of gas, but has been low enough for the low fuel light to come on. Just curious if others have had or heard of 08 fuel pumps going out.

 

news to me, sounds like a fun little project. I would check wiring just to see if anything is loose first

 

I've heard of a couple of fuel pump relays dying early, but not a pump at that low milage. All it takes is one tank of contaminated fuel or a faulty pump, but its not a widespread issue.

 

URD sells a replacement fuel pump for way cheaper than the dealer if you need to replace it. It's probably just the filter for the fuel pump but with our Tacomas it requires replacing the whole fuel pump. It's a pretty common issue.
