It's not uncommon to require winching to get up the back way to crown king. let's just put it that way.

I haven't done it, but think I remember seeing a few areas that aren't bypassable that you would not be able to do with a prerunner.

Chris4x4 has done it, PM him.

Also that road keeps getting more and more washed out every year. If you decide to do it in 2wd plan on being pulled along by one of your buddies a lot.

you can also PM Rpoint16 he's done it recently.

Thats why I didn't go balls out and do the Full Broken arrow trail because I couldn't look at myself in the mirror if one of those Pink jeeps had to pull me out. haha

    Sorry about the Tread Jack.

ya the book i have said soldier pass is difficult also but i went with gf sister and her bf and he has a jeep so i figured if i do get stuck oh well. so we went and the trail part of it was easy then i started to do the devils kitchen part, little side trail, and pretty much right when it turns off the trail does get difficult for an open diff but tried it out got maybe 1/3 of the way up the little section and was like f this parked it and took the jeep. my mentality is you never know if you dont try and thats one thing i hate about myself haha

I did a damn dumb thing once many many years ago and ran this trail down from Crown King... alone...:rant::der:

I eventually got to a place where I decided to turn back and couldn't get out, so I decided to try and finish it.
Some of the short steep grades out required 2nd and 3rd attempts. It was white-knuckles all the way to the lake.

    Never again...

I have done Crown King a few times. I wouldnt do it in a Prerunner unless you plan on getting pulled alot. Also, bring friends, food, LOTS of water, etc. Like Oakley said, its a long trail, and plan for the whole day if you havent done it before. Its fun FUN! But a Prerunner is a no no. You can go down it in a Prerunner :)) ), but not up it.
