2013 5 speed regular cab 4x4 with 10000 miles. I went on a short trip this morning and the clutch pedal was really acting up. Bought the truck in October with 6000 miles on it and this is the first time this has happened. Also noticing a smell when I get out of the vehicle. Is this cause for concern?

    how cold are we talking?
my pedal will return real slowly and feel kinda mushy when it hits zero or below
usually it goes away once the truck is warmed up
i believe this is pretty common with hydraulic clutches

It was 4 outside here in western pa. I did allow the truck to warm up while I cleaned some ice off the windshield. It's been colder than this and never had a problem before. After reading about crutch problems on here I'm just not sure if I should be concerned

i guess i should use a more clear term than "warmed up"
your engine and cab could be nice and toasty; but, that doesn't necessarily mean that your dot 3/4 is up to a temp that is gonna give you smooth operation

after you operated the clutch for a while; did it smooth out then?

Same thing happened to me, and at first I was a little worried. In my neck of the woods it hardly EVER gets cold enough to stiffen up the clutch, but sure enough this winter it happened. Apparently, as I'm told by others, this is common in below freezing temps.

mine stays stiff and sloppy when it's anywhere colder than -15 celcius, to the point when on long road trips it stiffens right up and i have to give a couple second delay when getting back on the gas when shifting for hills. i sometimes wonder if this is at all due to my tube bumper allowing more cold wind to get at things at speed.. clutch smells like burning crap when cold often, this is due to slipping.

Smells like clutch. Could it still be a breaking in smell with only 10000 miles on it?
