For those of you who run their ipod via the auxiliary port. Do you always keep your ipod attached ?

Trying to figure out a way to maybe run the cable and house the ipod in a hidden location. Leaving an ipod in plain sight seems like an easy target for a thief. Trying to figure out a work around.

    Thanks

I popped out the filler plug next to the port, filed a round notch in the side, and fed the cable from there into the glove compartment. Some day I'll find a black cable instead of the white one and it'll look even less conspicuous.

This is exactly what I want to do. So this didnt involve you taking the dash off? I'm trying to picture what you did in my mind. I have the empty port right next to the USB/AUX, I can see knocking that out, but not sure what to do next. Do you have any pics of it by chance?

Do ipods have Bluetooth connectivity? If so, THIS works great.

I'm at work now so I can't get any pics. I didn't have to remove anything other than the filler plug. I ended up attaching the cable to a coat hanger wire and pushing it to the hole, then pulling the USB connector through the opening. I also drilled a small hole in the top edge of the glove box and attached the cable with a cable tie.

Pics would be a huge help to me. I'm kinda a paint by numbers numbskull! The filler plug on mine , it seems I will need to cut it away, its almost like a hard plastic.

I found that my iPod classic'a battery did not appreciate a year or so of constant charging hooked up to my dock. Thing won't last 20 minutes before going from 100% charge to 0 now. That being said if you have a junker ipod no big deal. I use a new Nano 7th gen I got which had Bluetooth. I just leave it in my jacket pocket or console and as soon as I fire up the taco it connects.

I moved my connector the glove box, since I have an ipod that stays connected to it 100% of the time.

If you pull out the heater controls, you can easily access the connector in the dash. I connected a USB extension to mine and left it tucked behind the dash. Purchased a switch blank to fill the hole, and ran the USB extension into the glove box.

That an interesting idea as well. How much of a pain was it to remove the heat controls?

Takes about 30 seconds....they are only clipped in, no screws. Just be careful not to scratch them in the process.
