    Maybe I'll add carbogain to my shakes. Seems to work, lactose free, and around 20$ for 8lbs :D (having looked into how many servings in that though)

    Eating 4k/day on a meatless diet will kill me.

    A metabolism test. I burn 2.8k at rest/day and in order to gain weight I need 4k/day.

    I eat about 1.7k a day average.

    So I can't remember if I told ya'll I bought some Optimum Nutrition Gold Standard protein the other weekend. Right now I've been taking it only after I work out at home every other day. I'm wondering if I should be taking some on the off days as well. I weigh about 158 and 5'8, and without the protein powder according to the myfitness app, I'm averaging about 100-120 g of protein a day with eating my meals. Then once I add the powder and sometimes a protein bar, I'm at 150-180g of protein. So I guess my main question is should I take it on my off days too or just workout everyday at home just do upper body one day and then lower the next giving just one day to rest muscles.

    since you're starting out I'd say no to the shakes on off days.. just let your body rest normally and get all your nutrients from whole food sources..

    also careful of those protein bars... those are super high in carbs and many are high in sugars.. they usually do more harm than good

    Body Bug ... I've heard is awesome... I've personally never used a heart rate monitor

    If you want to shed fat do cardio you shouldnt be able to carry on a conversation

    If you want to lose fat yet maintain muscle you should be able to carry on a conversation

    Seems odd but I've read about this a lot and many competitors do it this way. It's all about listening to your body.

    The protein bar I've had so far is the Think Thin Choc Fudge. Its got 240 calories, 8 g fat, 5g sat fat, 190mg sod, 24g carbs, 20g protein. Not sure if thats good or not. I ate the last one the other day so its a good time to find out if its good or not. Thanks for your help so far.

    Mine is not what I want to do its what I have to do. With my heart condition I cant be over a certain rate so I just want something that will let me know when I need to take a break and cool down

    If you need it in a pinch Id say go for it... Theres no sugar in it?! Kinda high in sodium as well.. but if you need a pre/post workout snack id do it there... possibly pre just because of the sodium... all in moderation my friend

    Gain. Right now I am going to shoot for 2500 a day and 4 gym days a week. right now I get at least 2 days a week, usually 3.

    But my meals are not consistent at all, so I know thats a BIG problem.
