I just bought this 99 extra cab v6 4x4(non trd) with 224k miles and the suspension is pretty much wore out. I am wanting to keep this truck "stock" looking so I don't care for a lift, just want quality parts. I'm not mechanically inclined but have have spent a fortune on suspension with my other trucks and just never got my money worth out of the investment because I don't beat on my trucks off-road much. Just the occasional 60 miles down a rough beach twice a year. This being said I want some opinions on what to do with my suspension. My thoughts on the front-
Buy new trd coils and put 5100s on lowest setting?
My stock UCAs are ok but the bushings are cracked really bad. I wasn't sure if I should get new stock UCAs or if the dealer can just rebuild these old ones? I don't want to spend $500+ on squeaky camburgs???been there done that.
    Ideas?
For the rear, I'm not sure if I need to replace the leaf springs or just shocks.was thinking stock leafs and 5100s.

    Comments and opinions welcome!

I'd say if your going with 5100's in the front midswell go with the ebiach springs if your buying new springs anyways. Not sure what the price difference is on them though. For some reason I don't think you can do stock leafs & 5100's I think you may need add a leafs. Might want to check out toyteclifts. I just installed my boss kit w/ OME leafs and I like it. They have several different options.
As to the uca it's a tough choice.. If you just want to replace the bushings it will be semi expensive unless you DIY. Reason being is because you have to take the metal sleeve bushing out. Still would be cheaper than new uca though. Id say just replace the bushings.. Did you check the LCA bushings?

Im not sure if they will fit or not but I would say maybe keep an eye out for some 4600's that come off a new 2nd Gen. Ive seen a lot with coils and all included for a good price. and it should keep you at stock hight.

What about Light Racings UCAs? Looks like they wouldn't squeak and only $425 isn't bad. How does those UCAs and the 2.0 SAWs sound for a easy front suspension that is quality but doesn't have to lift the truck.
As for rear, are the leaf springs something that should be replaced or just new shocks?

We'll I decided on this middle of the road setup-

Front- LR UCAs, OME 881s with 5100s on lowest perch and a quarter inch spacer on driver side.
Rear- wheelers 1.5 lift leaf spring replacements with 5100s

Truck should be 1.5-2 inches taller then stock and have decent suspension all around. Getting everything from Wheelers except the UCAs which I ordered from Headstrong for 375 free shipping. Dan at wheelers really helped me sort things out and his prices are great. I was really close to doing some SAWs coilovers but I just kept telling myself not to go nuts like I have in the past. Thanks to this forum for lots off good info that helped me find a good solution. Now to cough up $1500 on parts!

I replaced the worn suspension on my 96 and after alot of research settled on:

    Front:
    - New Toyota upper and lower control arms, plus new cam bolts and hardware - one of them, I believe the lower arms - Toyota does sell the bushings for alone, eurathanes are crap according to most suspension experts and way squeaky, the money spent in labor burning out the bushings = not worth it. Install new or go w/ ball joint control arms
    - 5100s - set on the lowest setting
    - Moog coils
    - Moog upper and lower ball joints
    - Moog inner and outer tie rods
    - Toyota bushings replaced on the sway bar
    + 1 alignment

    Rear:
    - Triangle leafs purch from Deaver Suspension
    - Toyota oem shackles and eye bolt
    - 5125s rear w/ boots (I believe setup sold by DownSouth)
    - New U-bolts and bump stops rear (went a little overboard w these)

It was a night and day difference
sold the old stuff for $100 to a Toyota recycler
