I put a new battery on my 2000 Tacoma and then had it do die on me at Walmart with the check engine light on. Battery checked and good, alternator checked and good. Now it starts and runs again, however, no dome light, dash lights are out and the radio doesn't work. I checked all fuses and none are blown. Any ideas out there? Thanks, Steve

Sure sounds like Lowe power output.

Toyota electrical systems sure are cool. Starts killing off unnesicary electrical systems to try and prolong the engine as long as possible on a dead alternator.

What's alternator output? Did they give you a readout when they tested it?

Check ground and positive terminals/wires that leave battery and go to alt and fuse block. Check for cooked and corroded copper.

You checked fuses with a multimeter right? or by just visual inspection?

I appreciate this information and will check with my son. He's the one that's been doing the trouble shooting. I'm not the best mechanic. :(

Make sure the battery connections are tight and clean.

    Sounds like an alternator.
