Fluid changing

Alright so my dad has a 98 Tacoma extra cab SR5 V6 auto.

189k and I have done a few things for his truck but need to do more.
I've done, spark plugs, spark wires, filter, value gasket (whole kit).

What I know of that I need to do.
transfer case fluid
front diff fluid
rear diff fluid
transmission fluid
coolant

Anything else? Also what fluids should I use??

 

Brake power steering.

 

I just changed all the fluids in my 04 4x4 with a manual trans, just do a search here that's what i did and found all the info that i needed.

I stuck with Toyota coolant, but upgraded to Amsoil lubricants all-around...
transfer case - Severe Gear 75W-90
front diff - Severe Gear 75W-90
rear diff - Severe Gear 75W-90
transmission - Signature Series Multi-Vehicle Synthetic ATF
brakes - Series 500 High-Performance DOT 3 Brake Fluid
power steering - Signature Series Multi-Vehicle Synthetic ATF

Don't forget the correct replacement crush washers for your transfer case and differentials.

 

All good info thus far. My only addition would be to make sure you're using GL-4 in the transmission and t-case, and GL-5 in the diffs. You'll see this recommended in the factory service manual, I believe it has something to do with the oils reaction with softer metals found in the transmission and t-case.

I've only used Redline

$30 75w-90 Synthetic Gear Lube - 1 Quart (Pack of 2)

75w-90 synthetic but have always been satisfied with it.

Don't forget new crush washers all around, Toyota dealer should have them in stock for under $15-20 total.

 

The power steering system on these trucks uses ATF. Make sure you flush it by removing the return line and starting the engine for a second or so, refilling the reservoir, and repeating until it comes out clean.

 

I had a 99 tacoma that a guy traded in ( I work for Toyota) that I picked up cheap. The trans had trouble down shifting in any gear and had a slight grind in third and fight. I put red line

75w-90 in the trans and it downshifted smooth and the grinds almost completely went away so I can say from experience the red line works and is well worth the $$$ !! Its specifically formulated for brass synchronizers.

I found a hole in the frame and Toyota is buying the truck back so I'll be picking up an 04 reg cab tacoma 4x4 . First thing I will do is drain the trans fluid out and add redline.
