    Is the 4.0 in the 2012 4runner the same as the 4.0 in the 2012 taco?

    The '03-'09 4Runners have the same 4.0L engine as the 2nd Gen Tacomas. Like kirkofwimbo said tho, the '10+ 4Runners use the newer 1GR-FE w/ dual vvt-i.

    Unfortunately toyota dumps money into everything but the tacoma... So except for a new grill or radio every few years nothing gets updated. But they DO like to REMOVE stuff that we like (mechanical LSD, comp/temp mirrors). Must just like to test our loyalty or see us squirm.
