I dunno... I agree that having a dog loose in the bed is dangerous b/c they could jump out or fall out at any time. That's why I don't do it. If they're teathered to the truck and unable to jump out, I don't see the danger.

I can't see myself getting rear-ended in such a way that I barely feel it, but my 45lb dog flies through the air. And if I'm hit hard, a dog loose in the cab is just as dangerous to the dog as one teathered in the bed. No to mention that she'd be a 45lb projectile that could hit ME if she was in the cab. (No, I don't put her in the bed for this reason... it just came to mind as I was typing.)

Calling us extremely irresponsible is a bit much, IMO, but I respect yours.

Wanted to attach these in my first post in this thread, but that was the same day my niece went to the hospital, so time got away from me.

Here are a few pics of my set up and my dog.

I was trying to coax her to the edge of the bed to show just how far she could go. I couldn't snap a picture when she was stretching all the way, but she can't go much further than this.

    And now... she's drunk, apparently.

ive seen somebody with a 3 pice tonou cover and they had the middle open somehow and the dogs leash attached somehow...this seems safest to me..it allows shade and protection
