Hmm, I've owned 2 Samsung phones. My current is the Galaxy Nexus and it's well over two years old. It's my favorite phone of all time .. I'll be trading it in soon either on the Note 3 or the S5 when it comes out. I've never had an issue with Samsung phones or any other electronics.

I don't have much bad to say about Apple other than I'm not a fan of their business practices specifically around their phones and tablets etc.

I am an Apple Fanboy... Not going to lie, however there advantages to Android phones... True multitasking, and Flash enabled content for example. That said, I love my iOS devices because they work, and I've only had issues when I did something. Like the time I broke a screen showing how scratch resistant it was. (Apple replaced that phone for me though :D ) I currently have the iPhone 5 that I bought in the US with AT&T. When I moved to Korea I had AT&T unlock my phone, and I am now using my US Spec iPhone here on a Korean cell network. All the features work, and it is a tough little phone. It's not Nokia quality, but it's survived several falls and one from a moving vehicle :(

All in all, I would say that I stick with Apple because it hasn't let me down yet.

    I can't say I'm an apple fan-girl.... or maybe I am.

We started with Apple back when the Iphone 4's came out. My husband and I both have iphone 5's now. We also have 2 ipod Classics and a nano.

After all these years, and all the accessories we've purchased that can be interchangable..... we have everything synced between us - from mail, to contacts, calendars, apps, notes. We have our 'house' and our entertainment system setup & synced with everything. We can play music out of our entertainment system with the touch of a button on a remote app.

With that being said.... we'll probably always stay with Apple because everything is just setup and works great. Apple is very good with 'connectivity' with other things that make it sooooo nice. With the 4 Apple iphones we've owned....... We've only ever had one issue - and that was my husbands iphone 5 had weak WIFI connectivity. Took it to the Apple store and they diagnosed it and replaced it - easy and effortless.

Once you get all that shit setup and you utilize it often, it's hard to start over again.

I'm not discouraged by the 'cost' of Apps. I usually only grab the 'freebies'. The most expensive app we've ever purchased cost $10 for each of us and we've used it heavily and regularly and it was well worth the money.

I don't agree with your tech savvy statement. I'm very tech literate and my dad is a major corporation IT manager....We both have Apple integrated house holds.

Stable and useful...I don't need to tweak every color, font, setting, etc to be happy with my phone and when I need to do any major "work"... I'm totally ready to use a computer. Not to mention that I can do everything I need for my job using free apps that are available from apple...and i don't have nearly the concern about my phone shitting out when I need it most.

Supposedly the iPhone 6 is going to have two models, one with a big screen. I have the Note 2 and my Wife has the Note 3. We like them and haven't had much problem with them. She had the iPhone 4 as well but wanted a big phone screen. I like the bigger phone for browsing (my eyes are getting old). My Note 2 was just upgraded to Android 4.3.

As for customizing phones, I've only done it once with my previous phone, the Motorola Atrix. I don't change ROMS just because look and feel is not a big deal to me. I like folders for organizing apps but I think the new IOS has that capability as well. I do like widgets. I don't have to launch an app to see the weather. It just sits on my screen. I also don't like the new look of the IOS 7. To me it seemed like a step backwards. They're decent phones though. Plus, Apple seems to keep updating them. IOS 7 was available for my wife's 4 whereas my Atrix (which was newer) had lost all update support after Gingerbread. The Android companies seem to stop developing for them after one or two major updates. Then you're stuck rooting the phone and trying to update with someone else's build and hoping that everything works right.

If you want a big iPhone, you're going to have to wait though. I think they're coming out with the standard sized phone first.

OP, it sounds like your problem is with Samsung, not Android.
Samsung's phones are highly customized Androids to the point where Google got mad and did something about it.

If I were you, take a solid look between the new iPhone and the Motorola. The Motorolas are closer to a true Android experience, and they have fantastic hardware - battery life is excellent and durability is quite good, we are having better luck with them than iPhones in terms of breakage.

After reading some of the comments here, many people are having issues with Android because of phone choices. I'm using terms loosely here, but there's basically a breakdown of 'this phone runs full-fledged Android' and 'this phone runs a hacked down version of Android'. Many people have problems with extended support of their Android products because they bought the cheap, 'android lite' experience. Flagship phones, or ones that are running pure Android, will offer a better experience, such as the Motorola, the Nexus, etc. Samsung's Galaxy phones are technically full-fledged Android, but they are bloated with the TouchWiz operating system. You can replace it with CyanogenMod (which is now really easy and doesn't even need any pre-setup steps), and get better support.

The Windows phones aren't made by MS. The ones I'm aware of are made by Nokia or HTC. The Nokia offerings were incredibly nice, you just have to like the Windows Phone experience. I was too OCD with how the tiles were laid out to get used to it.

As for a connected home... you can get a lot done with a chromecast and an Android, for far less.

For syncing itunes to Android, there's lots of options. I'm currently using iSyncR, but I'm sure there's newer, better options.

I highly enjoyed my iPhone 4, and currently use Android. After picking up a friends' iPhone 5 the other day, I think it would be hard to go back - Android gives me quicker access to options, settings, and additional controls. The newer iOS seems like I'm trying to solve a mystery half the time in favor of making it 'pretty'. This is only my thoughts, so I encourage you to utilize both phones in the store.

    They both suck ;)

In my portfolio of support (I'm Director of Tech Support at work) I have about 50 old school flip phones, 200 iPhones and 50 Androids. By percentage the Android and iPhones have the same number of complaints. My advice to people is to pick an ecosystem and stay with it. Some apps are OS specific, how the phones operate is different and when you purchase apps, iTunes and the Appstore don't interchange so you end up buying things twice.

My boss, the CIO, can have any phone he wants and continually bounces back and forth between the latest and greatest of each platform. He pretty much hates them both. The Androids have had problems connecting to our email system, (Exchange) and the iPhones have problems with running all day without needing a recharge. Personally I could do the same as my boss and have the latest and greatest, but I stay with the iPhone because it does what I need it to and I have purchased a bunch of apps I use a lot.

Oh and the phones with the least problems? Yup, the old school flip phones. Except for the occasional being dropped in the toilet the only time I hear about them is when the hinge breaks at around 3 years old. (Who uses their phone in the restroom, that's just nasty.:poking:)

My parents have better phones then me.
I just have a LG slide phone.. With internet, your basic texting phone with internet is all I need, I'd feel like if I bought an IPhone I'd break the screen, I'm rough on my phones.

Interesting - for us, all phones work OK with exchange. Our big problem is wireless. I'm not the IT guy so I don't know the tech terms, but devices will continuously ask for new authentication to the access point. Android and MS devices are fine with accepting recycled keys, whereas the i-devices always want a brand new keys and end up causing a bunch of server-side clutter. Maybe they fixed it but it was a PITA for a while.
Additionally, we have decent signal strength for most everything but iPads. Really funny watching people wandering the halls and waving their iPads about.

Individual infrastructure aside, I'd say the universal problem for i-devices is the replacement and equipment costs.

That's funny. Back in the 90's I was a building cleaner and couldn't tell you how many beepers we all had take a swim when people were cleaning the bathrooms. Same with cell phones.

Have to echo the flip phone thing. My old Motorola lasted 6 yrs before the hinge broke. The people at the store were incredulous that I hadn't come back in 3-4 yrs for an upgrade. I told the guy it does what I need so why change..then pulled it out of my pocket and it was clear why now.

Before there were smart phones, the family phone was a Nokia "candy bar" (no moving parts except the number buttons) that refused to die. And since it wasn't dead I refused to upgrade just for the sake of upgrading. However on a family vacation to the Smithsonian they had that exact phone in the case as an example of older cell phones. I had to admit that maybe it was time for an upgrade.

The only reason I made the switch to iPhone is because my old Motorola Razr finally bit the dust. Had two or three of them through the years. Guess I finally dropped it enough that it was on the way out the door. Went to the AT&T store to get a new one and they didn't have any. Was going to leave to go somewhere else, but in the process of texting while there my phone had a melt down and completely shut down. So I got the iPhone. Lucky for me though b/c I went with the unlimited data plan, and am still grandfathered in.

i was a big fanboy of Samsung in the past and just like every other major company that gets to big they lose touch of what got them where they are today,no longer a fan of Samsung. I did months of research and ended up with the Moto X from Google I think this phone is awesome, not a fan of iphone when I had one,but to each their own. WIsh you the best at whatever you decide to get. Once my contract is up with Verizon in about 20 months I am all over Straight Talk which is verizon's pay as u go 45.00 unlimited everything.

Not yet. Still rocking the note 3. Got a replacement device in store instead of a refurbished and it seems to be better. But time will tell.

I like apple products, they do what I need. As for my phone......it's a iPhone 4 but I don't complain because it's a company phone that is all paid unlimited text, internet and calls to anywhere in the world. I'm good with it!:woot:
