Peter, today I got the same lift installed on my 09 Tacoma. I took it straight it to discount tire to install my some Nitto Trail Grapplers 295/70-17s with KMC Enduro Black wheels (-6 Offset). The guy told me they should fit with my lift when I ordered... however they did not. They were rubbing slightly against the frame when we tested a "bump" by jumping up and down on the truck. He said I could probably shave the frame and re-weld but I didn't like that idea.

I decided to try the 285s but I was so disappointed because the 295 nitto TG's looked AWESOME on my truck. Anyway, I'm going back tomorrow to try on the 285. Everyone down here said the 285s should fit fine, so I'm crossing my fingers. I hope I don't have to change my wheel. I'm worried I might experience rubbing on the road now from your experience

I honestly think its just a bad combination of lift/tire choice / wheel choice.

Anyone ever done this exact install and not any rubbing? (3'' ProComp Lift Kit/ Nitto Trail Grappler MT 295 or 285 / 70-17 / KMC XD ENDURO BLACK ?

    Hey Joel,

First of all, you went the wrong route with 4 wheel parts...lol, they don't know shit about tacomas... They put our truck's info into the CPU to see if things will fit...but since you're already here I suggest you get 285s and still have to do some trimming...or do what I did and get your refund and do a real lift to avoid rubbing/damages...Save your self money and time, no regrets at the end.

Thx Pete! Ended up going with the 285s and just got some minor trimming I need to do. Overall I love how it came out. Rubbing on the road and VSC problems are still yet to be determined! But As for now, I'm estatic. :D

Synthetic oil/lubes used throughout. NGK Iridium Lazer 100K spark plugs. Rear differential breather extension modification. Toyota front skid plate, roof rack, bed mat, chrome exhaust exhaust. Runs like new!
Since I came across the gentleman's post about "Not trusting 4 Wheel Parts" I felt an obligation to post. I was about to order an aftermarket rear bumper in place of my current stock damaged one. I told him I was unsure if there was any bent brackets or anything behind the bumper that needed replacing. He assured me,"This is the ENTIRE BUMPER! It will replace everything." I learned that there are many other parts to the rear bumper besides the shell (on the dealers computer). I was irritated to find this out.

I could picture having spent $681 (PLUS approx $250-300 to prime & paint proper color ) for this bumper shell & getting a call from the body repair shop that the bumper needed more parts, more labor, more time with a car rental. I figured this bumper would cost me over $900 even without additional parts and labor. The OEM factory primed bumper shell is only $235 + finish paint. I could NOT justify that extra expense (approx $500) when the current bumper is a fairly thick steal. I believe sales rep thought if he buys this he won't send it back because he'll have it painted and would have to pay return shipping, initial shipping, etc...

I would rather have the sales person tell me he doesn't know. They sound eager to sell you anything regardless of how it fits or works for you (must be commission based). Sales rep kept saying,"So you ready to have this sent out!" Not so fast!

Note: Do your research and never believe what one person tells you regardless of whether it's on here or what a sales rep is trying to sell you. I enjoy this forum and thanks to all for the great posts! Saved some serious time, aggravation & money by joining so far.

procomp 3" suspension lift,18" fuel krank matte black wheels with 33' toyo m/t,back flip f1 folding tonneau cover, locking tail gate
    hey guys ,
new to the site, just got my taco last month,
I had this procomp 3" lift installed, hate it!
ive put maybe 1500km on the suspension in hope that it would soften up.
as far as rubbing, it only rubs if im goin into a parking lot on an angle with some speed. lock to lock no rub. I am so sick of the ride, its coming out.
my question to the gurus out there, what suspension do I need in my truck for it to ride better than stock without it rubbing?

thanks, any help would be great!
