Opinions on saltwater spinning reels under $200

Looking to buy myself a birthday present, and have about $200 to spend. I'd like a medium weight salt/freshwater spinning reel, and was curious what everyone is fishing with. Really like the looks of the new Penn reels, but have never used one. Open to any ideas. Thanks!

 

Can't go wrong with the Shimano Stradic, or any Shimano. I have a Penn Battle and 2 Shimano spinning reels. For the money I like the Battle but haven't had it as long as the Shimano. I can't speak for the quality of the new Penn's because I just don't use them enough.

 

I will tell you the same thing I tell everyone. buy the most expletive shimano you can afford and you will be happy. if you want to spend a little more than $200 buy a stradic 5000. if you fish live bait a lot buy the baitrunner 6000. if you want to save a little dough buy the spheros and if you can save up another $50 grab a saragosa 6000 and have it for the rest of your life

 

I would go with the recently discontinued Shimano Saragosa too. You shoud be able to find them for under $200.

 

Yup....cant go wrong with a shimano!! Thats about all I will buy anymore.

Shimano bait runners are amazing I have 3 and they are rock solid

 

I have two Shimano Stradic CI4 2500 that I use for inshore fishing. Reds, drum, and trout no problem.
