Most newer 3d tvs are passive like the glasses you wear at the movie theater and a lot of the sonys use active which have batteries inside and are rechargeable, the sony ones are a bit heavier but seem to work well.

I remember the old days if your tv broke you could call a repairman out to your house and for about 35 to 75 bucks you could get a repair that would last for 3 or 4 years. My folks had an RCA in the wooden cabinet I think it lasted for about 30 years with just a few service calls.

My parents had an old Quasar 36" wooden floor TV. One day it stopped working. The repair man said the picture tube died. And that our Nintendo probably caused it. I opened it up and found out it was a fuse that had blown.

As do I, my folks had a monstrosity of a Zenith when I was a kid and I think maybe once in 20 yrs it needed work. That and the damn thing cut the corners off of my Nintendo like you wouldn't believe.

My girl's nephew accidentally put my TV in store demo mode. There goes all of my settings. :(
