So I know there has been alot of talk about flexalite cooling fan conversions but wanted to know if anyone has made their own electric cooling fan conversion? I hate to spend almost 400$ on a flexalite kit and know that it can be done with out buying a complete kit. I have 180k on my 2.7 2tr 4x4 and am planning on replacing my water pump , exhaust, header, slave cylinder, wheel bearings, and probably some more I'm missing soon and I know my fan clutch could use replacing so rather than get a new thermal fan clutch I'd rather go with an electric fan! Please any information/comments or advise welcome! Thanks everyone!

I haven't yet converted to an electric fan, but I had one in my last truck. I used a 16" Perma-Cool 19115 and a Hayden 3647 adjustable control. I ran it for 15 years and it worked well. I will probably do something similar on my Tacoma.

Let's see . . . Summit has the fan for $157 and the control for $36. The 18" fan is $174 and looks like it will fit my radiator.
