I recently purchases a 2007 Toyota Tacoma PreRunner SR5 4 cyl. I didn't notice the knocking before I bought it. After driving it and it being winter, you can really notice it on a cold start. Seems to slightly stay once it's warmed up, but not as noticeable. I don't know if it's a valve or lifter sticking, or if it's just how the vehical is. I've read a few and heard it was a Tacoma thing.

It's not a "THING" with my '09. Lucky me. But there are several threads here about members with various engine noises. Are you running OW oil? Use the Ow-20 for winter and get that oil flowing quicker. It's not an issue here in Florida. Hopefully it's nothing serious.
