you hate it, i enjoy it. i do it for a living. not automotive but wiring lights on trucks is easy, i dont mind lending a hand where i can

just last weekend i helped a friend rig up his welding truck and he wanted lights in his toolboxes so i got some led RV fixtures with a switch on the fixture and ran it from the fuse box inside the cab, all the way through the firewall and down the frame rails, into the toolbox and across the truck to the other toolbox on the other side. turned out pretty slick.

Yea, it's not that it's hard doing the grunt work (if you will) IE running the wiring and making it all pretty, which is pretty much my mission in the next two days. I bought 100' of that crinkle wire cover stuff, used it in the bed for my dust lights, but I want it on all wiring inside the engine bay (for aux systems) and on the front of the truck, as well as heat shrink on all connections and everything wired and fused properly. Had everything pretty much jury rigged straight to the battery for about 6 months, finally just ripped everything out and off last week and told myself I would do it all correctly this time.

It's just super time consuming and really easy to just half ass it all lol. Self control!

ive personally seen half assed work go bad. someone wired a light to a battery without a fuse and years later it got taken apart. in the process of disassembly it shorted out and melted all the wiring and burnt itself into the battery. very big fire hazard, use lots of fuses and carry spares.

Yep. My half assed wiring before at least had in line fuses for each wire coming off the battery. I've been sitting on this aux fuse box for a while now. ugh. not looking forward to wiring tomorrow lol

When putting in the blue sea aux fuse panel, do you need an inline fuse from line from battery to panel?

yes. what if something were to happen and that wire got pinched in the hood or something cut through the insulation? answer is it would short to ground melting every bit of plastic its touching (possibly other wiring) until the battery is dead.

every (+) wire should be should be fused as close as practicable to the source.

What inline fuse or circuit breaker do you recommend for the aux panel? I believe it is the 5026 one, 12 pos, 12 neg

I bought this one and will be installing today. It came with a 80 amp fuse though (weird it says 60) maybe I need to look closer lol. I've gone back and forth about a circuit breaker, but I feel like an inline fuse right off the battery will be good for now until I start getting more devices and pulling more load, then I'll invest in a circuit breaker as well...

Satoshi'd grill. blacked out badges. aftermarket sound system. De-chromed and color matched. OME 885s + Dakars with 3rd leaf removed. LR UCAs. Scs stealth 6 with 285 duratracs. BAMF sliders
I used 3 add a fuse's for 3 different switches. I found one that is blank and on with ignition, one that not used but only comes on with parking lights, lows and highs. Then i tapped into the wiper motor which is 10 amp. If your want to know which ones they are i can snap a picture

Its cool I've got the full guide to fuses :D. I'm just gonna tap into one of the 10 amp fuses and run a 7.5 amp fuse for the three switches. I'm thinking on AAF to the rear passenger window. I think its a 10 amp or a 15 amp...off the top of my head....that's not really something I would care if I burnt a fuse out on lol

You would have hundreds of amps flowing If it were shorted to ground, choose a fuse large enough to handle your loads and not too large that it would damage the wire it's protecting. Can't remember off the top of my head what 4guage is good for but usually a 60 or 80 would be common.

Yea 4 guage coming right off the battery, through a (60 or 80, I'll have to look) fuse, then to the aux fuse block. which also has a negative bus, so another 4 gauge negative going to the stock ground...and then fuses for each wire coming off the aux panel, AND then a fuse at the switch (AAF). I think I'll be fine lol

I just wanted to make sure it was acceptable to combine three switches on one fuse for relay/lighted switch power. As long as don't pull more than the fuse i'm adding on to, I'll be fine.

Ok, got most of my in cab harnesses made today. Got my Add a Fuse with 3 wires coming off of it and all nice looking made. Made a 3-1 ground harness, and then made a pretty looking harness for power to the relays made. Also started setting up my Aux fuse box and 4g wire going to it.

Tomorrow I'll run everything through the firewall and then make some harnesses for - lights to the fuse panel. Then Everything will be all nice and hooked up and I'll have peace of mind! And it will be a heck of a lot easier hooking up my next mods as well :D

Lol your picture actually just answered the questions I had! I was curious whether or not I could run the 4gauge sideways like that and have the metal ends touching the plastic on the Aux fuse panel. I'm guessing that's a yes :)

There's a guy that makes them on here somewhere...I just had a local fab guy make me up one.

On another note, got almost everything done today, bought the wrong damn fuses for the AAF lol. Bought the super mini fuses, and it's just the little fuses with prongs I needed. So tomorrow I'm hooking that up and then reaiming all my lights!

I also got super 'in the zone' today and got a small side of dehydration after like 6 hours of working out under the sun and only having a glass of water right before I started. Yay, splitting headache lol
