    Hey Guys,

Really basic question here I hope.

I picked up an ICON rage 3 Kit for my 2012 Tacoma, I need to get my wheels and tires before I install the kit so I can do it all at once. I have tried to price everything locally and have not been able to get any of the 5 tires shop locally to call me back with prices or availability.

I have settled on order the wheel and tire package online. I have ordered online before with great success and pricing.

I am looking to buy a set of Method Racking NV wheels (16x8" w 4.75" BS) wrapped in 285/75R/16 BFG All Terrains.

Now to the question, If I order them from Tirerack.com, they are right around $2k for the package ready to go mounted balanced and ready to bolt on with new TPSM. Would I need to go to the dealer to get the TPSM recalibrated to work with this truck, or will the truck "recognize" them and just work?

Second Option is to order them online from discount tires, for around $1700 without the TPSM. This does include a rebuild kit (new seals for moving the TPSM from the old rims to new rims). I can take the wheels and tires to a local tire shop, but I would assume it would be a couple hundred bucks to have the old TPSM removed and installed in the new wheels, and have both sets of tires remounted and balanced.

My thought is it would be much easier to sell the stock wheel/tire package if they till have the stock TPSM sensors in them and can just be bolted on, but I am not 100% sure how all that works.

What do people usually do when adding an aftermarket wheel/tire package?

    Thanks

Take the wheels to someone with experience. The TPMS can be easily damaged if done incorrectly. I got mine done at discount tire.

It is definitely nothing I would mess with myself. I was planning on taking them to discount, but I was curious if it would just be easier to buy the tires ready to go and not have to deal with any of that, and I could sell my current stock set.

Does anyone have any info on new TPMS sensors on a tacoma? Is there any special needed to get them to work with my truck?
