I am looking to upgrade my 2011 Tacoma TRD 4 door without the JBL package. It's been a long time since I have installed my own stereo and amp, but I wanted you suggestions on what to get:

    * Receiver (Bluetooth iPhone 5 compatible for voice and music)
    * Replace all speakers (front 6 1/2" component system and rear 5 1/4")
    * 4 channel amp to power the speakers

I don't want a sub-woofer, just want to improve how I listen to music now. I would like to continue to use the steering wheel controls and utilize the SirusXM antenna I have installed on the roof.

Are places like Crutchfield good places to buy? I see they include wiring harnesses and such with their items. Do you guys suggest I take my truck somewhere to get the stuff installed or is it pretty easy to do myself?

Any help from you guys would be greatly appreciated.

You may want to consider the Pioneer AVHX5600BHS for the headunit, Hybrid Audio Technology Speakers (HAT), and a JL 700/5 amp. The amp is 5 channel which will allow you to add a sub later if needed. I can hook you up with HAT speakers - PM me.

HAT will give you some very good sound. And the suggestion of a 5 channel amp is great future proofing. Just one thing though, I thought the rears in a DC were 6.5"? Have they changed this since I got my truck in '06?

I am curious as to why you suggested that double-din receiver. I don't need DVD lol....
