I am wanting to put an exhaust on my tacoma (03 5spd v6) and was wondering what exhaust I should out on it. I want something that has good sound as well as good performance. Should I go cat back? Just a new muffler? Suggestions? Thanks,Tyler

Some of this Some of that
Magnaflow! I have a catback but I'm sure it's cheaper to weld in the right length muffler

    Look at build!
I have an 18" magnaflow with no cats and it sounds great! but id say to go with the 14" magnaflow and you will be happy

Just replace the muffler. No need to touch the rest.

i have a 14'' maganaflow and its on the louder side but sounds awesome. I love it

have heard 18s as well and they are a quieter but still sound great.

Do you feel any performance difference with the magna flow muffler?

Opening the exhaust cause a tad loss in low end power and slit gain in upper power.

    18" magnaflow. Period.

I had a local shop fabricate a catback with a 14" Magnaflow. It sounded too goddamn ricey. Obnoxiously loud, and high pitched in revs. I felt fucking embarassed to drive around with a idiot-alarm blaring out the back of my truck.

I quickly brought it back a couple days later, had them cut it out, re-weld a 18" in, and add a resonator.

Much quieter. Doesnt drone. Has a deep grumble.

And i dont feel like a 15y/o kid acting all "fast-n-furious" with a civic....

I like my borla muffler. Doesn't sound too ricey it's kind of deeper. But I have a 4cyl not sure how it will be on a 6cyl

I have an Areo Turbine with the built in resonator. Deep sound, no drone, and definitely not ricey.

Jon's is an 18" right? (no homo)

His sounds great IMO. Not loud, but deep and throaty tones.

(holy hell, that entire post sounds wrong)

Ah... back in the days when your mud flaps actually served a purpose.

btw - I loved your truck back then, makes me wish it was still like that. It was my first TW crush.

    btw2 - nice "meep" at 0:08 of vid 2

Went to a muffler shop and asked them to do a 18" MagnaFlow on the stock pipes, they installed a 14" (didn't realize until I went home and got the tape measure out). I thought it had a bit of a drone in the cab. Took it back the next morning and had them replace it with what I actually asked (and was charged) for. I'd say the 18" sounds real close to the 14" without the interior cab drone.

they are close no doubt. the 18 is much quieter though outside the truck. Have heard it on multiple tacomas now. still a great muffler.
