Sorry if this is wrong forum, but looks like there is concentration of folks here with mod experience, and I have a simple question, I hope:

How to loosen the bolts holding down the front seats?

I've a socket wrench, about 12 inches long, and 14mm socket. All my weight won't budge the bolts. I extended the socket wrench for torque with a 3' iron pipe. Still no movement, but the bolt is getting damaged.

All instructions I've found for removing these seats do not mention this possibility. All expect simple easy removal.

Should I ask my mechanic to loosen them for me?

I want to remove the seats to install amp and cables. Maybe I should work around them, difficult but might be necessary.

    Thanks for your suggestion.

Ah...an impact wrench. Thanks for the tip.

I wonder than if any one could say:

What amount of torque should I need for this? About the same as a lug nut?

    Would 500 ft-lb be enough?

No bolt on your truck is set at 500ftlbs....that will strip out everything...

I have no idea the torque value for that specific bolt, but I have the haynes book at home I could look it up in if no one posts it before I get to do so.

Thanks. The bolts loosened easily with an impact wrench I borrowed.

I had to remove them myself when I installed an amp below the passengers seat as well. Don't think it should of been that difficult to remove though either way great to hear that you got to remove it.
