Debadged my taco yesterday and I didn't notice a difference until I took pictures. You can clearly see a semi outline of my regular paint and fresh that was under the emblems. Is there anything I can do about this? Its not adhesive, I got every bit of it off with goof off2. Is there any kind of wax or polish I can work around to hide this? Thanks guys!

Yeah a polish should do it. Most likely will need to use a buffer.

Are you talking about the "ghosting" effect of the emblem? I don't think you can do anything about it, the sun, the weather and car washes/waxes faded out the paint on the whole truck except that which was under your emblems.

Your emblems acted as a preserver, protecting the paint underneath from the elements all these years. It's more noticeable on darker colors.

Maybe a paint glaze that's applied with a machine might be able to blend out the areas more, but I'm pretty sure you'll still notice it.

8 years of sun and road grime most likely will need a buff or serious elbow grease

3M rubbing compound, followed by 3M polish, and if it's a dark color finish it off with 3M machine polish in the purple bottle. Do the entire truck, wash in between each step. Apply with a buffer with appropriate pads. It will be ALOT of work but the pay off will be worth it. :D

3m compound and polish system all have purple bottles. Compound has white top. Polish has black top. Ultra fine polish for Dark colors has a baby blue top

The compound I by at napa comes in a yellow bottle. And then step 2 is in a white bottle, then step 3 is in a purple bottle. I have never bought it all together or seen different colors. Been buying at the same napa for 4 years. Old stock maybe?

Yes same product but old stock. I use it professionally at a body shop. All they did was change the bottles. 8)

Emblem removal is best done alot sooner... removing them off a 06 is going to show the difference in the paint from 7 years of sun fade. I'd be surprised if polish fixes that... maybe try a clar bar.

It's actually best to clay bar before the polish. Clay bar just removes road grime out the pours of clear cloat. Then you polish it.

Is there a certain brand or type or do i just go in and ask for a clay bar? Also is 3M the best polish to use? I saw the turtle wax brand but was unsure so I didn't get it

You will need a compound and polish to do what you need to do. 3m is great but I'm sure mothers and turtle wax will do just as well

Yes, you want to blend the areas together. Polish actually removes a little of the clear coat to soften the edges of scratches. Wax protects and seals.

Just stay off the sharp edges and you'll be ok. Keep buffer flat. If you feel the surface get hot you staying it one spot too long

Turtle wax rubbing compound is like hitting your clear coat with sand paper. Ask me how I know, spend the extra money on 3M products. Turtle wax is an abrasive rubbing compound, 3M works chemically and is a lot better on your paint. Turtle wax will make polishing the swirl marks out, a lot more work.

I am not a professional, but this is my experience.
