I was checking fluids today for the first time on my New to Me taco and there was this thick black oval rubber thingy in the clutch fluid resivouir.

Is that supposed to be there? What's it for?

That is normal. My understanding is that it allows for movement in the fluid level in the reservoir while preventing/minimizing air & moisture exposure to the fluid.

Brake/clutch fluid likes to absorb moisture, when it does so it loses it effectiveness.
