    Some stuff...
What rig do you have (year/model)? Be careful with the fuses, I had a similar issue and went through a few fuses before I sent the accessory back (was blowing fuses). After that, no issues.

Tail lights do not have DTRL.

I have 06, sport. Well the lights don't come on when I turn on my headlights, they only come on when I push on the brakes.

You could try plugging one of the stockers back in to check for proper operation. Or pull the fuse covers and read the legend printed on them to determine what fuses to check.

Your tail /park lights are what's out, and the backlighting in the climate control is on the same fused circuit. The fuse is in the power fuse panel behind the change drawer in the dash, and is labeled "Tail" if I'm not mistaken. You might have a short in one of those new tail lights.

BUCKLE UP! It makes it harder for Aliens to pull you out of your Truck.
Make sure the taillight plugs are installed the correct way (upside down can blow a fuse- ask me how I know) The fuse blown was in the engine compartment on the driver side...15amp (blue in color) I think. Go to an auto wrecker and grab a handful of fuses.

So if you pull the change box off and look at the back of it there is a sticker that shows where and what the fuses are. Attached is a pic of that sticker.
